LENNA A. MARTYAK, M.D.
Dr. Martyak began her medical career at
Georgetown University Medical Center, where she graduated cum laude in 2002. She then completed her internship and residency
in internal medicine at UCLA. During her residency, she developed a program to help residents become better teachers. She
continued at UCLA for fellowship in Digestive Diseases and Hepatology where she excelled in both her clinical and research
interests. She completed two research projects during her three years, one which was recently published. Being dedicated to
education, she continued to devote much of her spare time to teaching lectures to medical students and residents at various
hospitals in the Los Angeles area.
Community service has long been Dr. Martyak's passion. She started at a young age volunteering her time to various
community organizations. While at Georgetown Medical School, she started a committee to organize medical students to
participate in community activities. During that time, she mentored teenage girls at the Boys and Girls Club and also helped
to open a shelter for homeless women and children in Washington, DC. She continued to serve her community during her medical
training by working at the Venice Family Clinic.
Luminal diseases of the GI tract are Dr. Martyak's area of interest. She takes pride in her good listening skills and warm
bedside manner. She is very excited to join the Southern California Medical Gastroenterology Group and practice
gastroenterology in Santa Monica. On her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors; hiking, body boarding, snowboarding and
spending time with her fiancé.
