MARC H. HARWITT, M.D., FACP
Dr.
Harwitt pursued his undergraduate studies and received his Bachelor´s degree
from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. He went on to attain his medical degree
from The Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL. After moving from New York to
Chicago, and finally to Los Angeles, he completed his internship, internal medicine
residency, and gastroenterology fellowship at the UCLA Hospitals and V.A. Hospitals
Over the past twenty-five years, Dr. Harwitt has been practicing Gastroenterology
and Hepatology in Santa Monica. In his many years of private practice in Santa
Monica as a board certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Harwitt has distinguished
himself by his devotion, attention, and accessibility to his patients. He has
also distinguished himself by his volunteer service to the community. Since 1980,
Dr. Harwitt has been a faithful steward, serving the indigent population referred
to him by the Venice Family Clinic. In Addition to his longtime service to the
Venice Family Clinic, he also devotes his time as an Assistant clinical Professor
of Medicine at UCLA, teaching the gastroenterology fellows three months a year.
He was Chairman of the Division of Gastroenterology for six years, and Medical
Director of the Gastrointestinal Laboratory for twelve years at Santa Monica-UCLA
Medical Center. Also at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, he was Chairman of the
Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for seven years. In recognition of his service
and achievements in the field of gastroenterology, Dr. Harwitt was elected as
a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Harwitt has a great interest in politics and current events. He is a long
time member of The Los Angeles World affairs Council. When he is not working,
he likes to spend his time with his family traveling internationally or going
to various sporting events. If Dr. Harwitt cannot get away for very long, he likes
to take them to the mountains, as he is an avid skier.
