PARVIZ D. AFSHANI, M.D., AGAF
Dr.
Afshani has been practicing gastroenterology for over twenty-five years. After
graduating from high school, he decided to leave Iran and move to France to pursue
his medical training. In 1972, he received his medical degree from the Univeriste
de Reims. Subsequent to receiving his medical degree, he was accepted to St. Luke´s
Hospital Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
In the fall of 1977, Dr. Afshani went on to pursue his dream of becoming a gastroenterologist.
He was accepted to UCLA Wadsworth VA Center Gastroenterlogy Fellowship Program.
In the summer of 1979, Dr. Afshani finished the fellowship program and became
board certified in the field of gastroenterology. From 1982 to 1989, Dr. Afshani
followed in the footsteps of his preceptor by serving as an Assistant Clinical
Professor for the UCLA School of Medicine Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.
As an Assistant Clinical Professor, he was involved in training the fellows on
various endoscopic procedures
Dr. Afshani´s rich multicultural background brings a unique dynamic to
the group. He is trilingual and attracts a large French and Persian speaking
patient population. Dr. Afshani is highly savvy with computer, evident in his
ongoing search of the latest technology to enhance patient care. Outside of
work, Dr. Afshani enjoys playing tennis and sharpening his photography skills.
