THOMAS L. KUN, M.D., FACP
Dr.
Kun is one of the founding members of Southern California Medical Gastroenterology
Group, Inc. He has been practicing medicine in Santa Monica since 1975. After
graduating Phi Beta Kappa at UCLA, he attended the UCLA School of Medicine, graduating
into the alpha Omega alpha Honor society. He completed his internal medicine residency
at UCLA Medical Center, and became board certified by the American board of Internal
Medicine in 1972. Upon completing residency, he continued on and was accepted
to UCLA´s gastroenterology fellowship Program. He received his board certification
in gastroenterology from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1973. In 1979,
Dr. Kun was awarded with a Fellowship from the American college of Physicians.
Following his fellowship training, Dr. Kun served in the United States air
Force for two years as the Chief of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at
the Strategic Air command Headquarters in Omaha, NE. Simultaneously, he served
as a clinical Instructor at the University of Nebraska and Creighton medical
schools.
Over the past thirty years, Dr. Kun has dedicated himself to the private practice
of gastroenterology. He is particularly proud to have been selected by his peers
to be included in the Registry of Best Doctors in America for the past ten years.
In addition, he views the group’s recognition by the Venice Family Clinic
with the prestigious Morton Rubenstein Award for Community Service as being
especially noteworthy. Dr. Kun has served as the chief of the GI lab at both
Saint John’s Health Center and Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. In 1992,
he was elected and served as the President of the Medical Staff at Saint John’s
Health Center. He also feels privileged to have served as a member of Saint
John’s Health Center Board of Directors for six years. Aside from Dr.
Kun’s devotion to his practice and his patients, he spends his leisure
time with family, dog, and sailing.
