RICHARD F. CORLIN, M.D., FACP

Dr. Corlin received his medical degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia. PA. While at Hahnemann Medical College, he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After medical school, he stayed in Philadelphia to complete his internal medicine internship and residency at Hahnemann Hospital. While completing his residency, he was selected as a Post-Graduate Scholar by the American College of Physicians. Once he received his board certification in internal medicine, he served two years in the Heart Disease and Stroke control Program for the United States Public Health Service. Following his position at the U.S. Public Health Service, he attended UCLA´s Gastroenterology Fellowship Program, and completed his gastroenterology training in 1972.

Dr. Corlin made history while training at UCLA. He established UCLA´s first Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit, and became director of the unit. In 1975, Dr. Richard Corlin, along with Dr. Kun and Dr. Rimer, founded Southern California Medical Gastroenterology Group, Inc. He has been practicing medicine in Santa Monica ever since.

In addition to his time in practice, Dr. Corlin has devoted a substantial amount of his energy and efforts to healthcare reform by helping to establish health policies and medical practice guidelines. In 1979, he was appointed by the Governor of California to serve on the Board of Medical Quality Assurance. In 1991, he was elected to serve a four-year term on the Advisory Committee to the Director of the National Instituted of Health. Dr. Corlin´s renowned commitment to the institution of healthcare made him the most eligible candidate to serve as the President of the American Medical Association in 2001. He continues to exemplify his allegiance to health education by authoring monthly article in the Culver City News and Blue Pacific News publications. Whenever Dr. Corlin has a minute away from patient care or healthcare advocacy, he likes to spend his time vacationing with his family or restoring ford Model T cars with his sons.
